COMMUNITY OUTREACH ANNUAL TOY/BLANKET DRIVE Items collected are sent to Native people in various communities. Some of the items needed are: blankets, clothing, school items, canned goods, infant wear, educational software/hardware, toiletries, supplies, teeshirts, coats, toys, etc. The toy & blanket drive helps people living in Native communities. Since the first toy/blanket drive which was a big success, we have sent items to people in South Dakota, North Dakota, Canada, Florida, New York and other communities here on the East Coast with the generosity and help of our donors and sponsors. We are continuing our efforts and hope you will also participate in our annual sponsorship program. "Please help us with these community efforts to help all Native people on and off the reservations. You can send your warmth in the gift of a blanket or you can send your love with a box of pampers for a baby or whatever you have to give from your heart." Children/Teens/Adults need a wide variety of items: Winter/Summer clothes, shoes, tee shirts, pants, skirts & dresses, bedding, socks, blankets, hats, gloves, under garments, coats, books, computers & software, bookbags, composition books, items for school etc. (Elders also need blankets, etc.) NNDT & Native communities across the country THANK YOU! WHAT ARE WE DOING???? NNDThas tried to help in a very small way and we are giving what we can to help those who need it. We also provide our services to the community for special needs groups and organizations. We have provided educational programs for the past 10 years and hope we are a valuable resource to and for the community at large. We will continue to service the various communities and can hope that the communities and schools will continue to support our efforts in educating the public about Native American Indians and our current issues. We (NNDT) feel comfort in giving and we hope you will too. We're doing our part, are you? Think of ways you can help those in need so America and its people can really progress and move forward! NEWS BRIEF Vaughnda Hilton (Blackfeet & Seminole), Shirley Fiddler and Delwin Fiddler Jr. (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe) at the opening Ceremony for the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC 9/21/04 Delwin Fiddler Jr. (Lakota Son) and Vaughnda Hilton, debut in the film "Who We Are" in the Lelawi Theater on the fourth floor of the museum. The film is a 13 minute multimedia presentation including lyrics by Robbie Robertson and dancing (featuring dancers from NNDT) that explores indigenous cultures from the northwest coast, southwest, southeast, south american, midwest and other regions.
