PBS Television series - A 5 part primetime television series for broadcast in the spring of 2009 will present a multi faceted look at Native ingenuity and perserverance over the course of over 300 centuries.  Each of the episodes focuses on important historical events and concludes with a short contemporary story that links the past to the present.
Members of NNDT were invited to participate in a week long commemoration of the first colonial landing, 400 years ago at Fort Story near the Jamestown setttlement this past April 2007.  Sara Evans (Country Singer) was also one of the featured guest performers.

NNDT presented educational presentations and performed dances, music and story telling.  The presentations were very well received. Raoule Hilton II (age 12) said,
"People enjoyed seeing the dances we did because it reminded them that we were here first".
We were joined by dancers and other Natives that reside in Virginia.  Vaughnda Hilton, Director of NNDT said,
"The reason I believe that some people came to tears during our presentation is that we have embraced who we are and the travesties that happened so long ago are still happening today and people realize it.  They often ask me how do I keep going?, I simply tell them because I need to do this for my children and grand children, so they will always be connected to their heritage".
The Director of First Landing Foundation was thrilled about the near completion of the site at Fort Story and looks forward to many more wonderful presentations, plays and educational tours that they have planned at the village.  For more information about First Landing Foundation please click on the link above.

NNDT JOINS STAGE AND FILM STARS
Native Nations opened for the
MOS DEF
Concert in Philly at the Trocadero on arch street this past July 2007.

Makil Kamil, CEO of 3 Kingdoms Entertainment invited NNDT to open for the concert.  Kamil said,"I know they were not expecting that, That was Hot!  " NNDT performed an intertribal dance during an interlude performed by Remmy Hendrix.  Hendrix sang, Bob Marley's Get Up Stand Up and the audience definately did get up!  Afterwards, members of NNDT spoke with Mos Def (who also has Native American roots.)  We talked about Indian heritage and What's going on in Indian County today.

The crowd was filled with young fans of Mos Def and nearby High School Children that are promoting putting the arts education back in the Philadelphia schools.  They painted posters and voiced their opinions stressing the need for performing arts in the schools saying, "We need the arts as an outlet in all of the schools not just a few."                Thanks MOS DEF
