DELWIN FIDDLER JR. EXECUTIVE DEPUTY DIRECTOR/DIRECTOR OF PUBLICITY
Nation(s): Lakota - Enrolled member of Cheyene River Sioux Tribe Delwin was born in Rapid City, South Dakota. Delwin is a direct descendant of Chief Hehaka Pa/ Chief Elk Head. Please see photo below. Delwin graduated from the hospitality trade from Job Corps in Philadelphia, PA. He also attended the PJA school in the accounting program. Delwin has been chosen to be head man dancer at many powwows around the country. He has also been instrumental in securing health & educational services for Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe (CRST) in the past along with staff members of IHS..
FILMOGRAPHY-DANCER AND ACTOR Delwin appears in the short film "Who We Are" now showing in the Lelawi Theater at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian and he is featured in the documentary film "Riding with Ghosts" featuring Lakota Sun Dancers produced by James Starkey, Joe Hubers & Jerry Clown - For more info see. www.ridingwithghosts.com Delwin is also featured as one of the core warrior's in the new documentary film "Tecumseh: We Shall Remain" a PBS TV Mini Series to be aired in 2009, directed by Chris Eyre and Rick Burns.
EDUCATOR Delwin is very respected as an educator in native dance. He is a world champion grass dancer, he plays the flute & performs the hoop dance. Delwin is a very accomplished dancer and has won many awards including 9th place at Schemitzun in the old style grass dance category in 2000. In 2003 Delwin placed 2nd at Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe powwow & rodeo and in 2004 and 2005 he placed at various community powwows locally in the New York and Philadelphia area. Delwin is NNDT's resident hoop dancer and the children and teachers are amazed with Delwin's presentations in the schools. He presented Hoop Dance Workshops at the George School for their Martin Luther King Day celebration in January of 2005 and 2006, Booker T. Washington School, The People's Center in Pablo, Montana and Indiana State University.
MUSICIAN AND WRITER Delwin is also know as Lakota Son and performs spoken word from a Native perspective and view point. He writes his lyrics and has been working with Steven Wise and also David Hughes on his music in the past. Currently, Lakota Son has released a CD entitled LAKOTA SON which can be purchased for $20. The musical selections were composed and produced by Steven Wise, special guest Zi Hummingbird on the track Beaded Mocs. Delwin is currently working on his flute music and plans to release another CD in 2008 featuring flute and spoken word,
